Not a lot going on at the moment - so here’s an update on a project I’m working on.
I’m making an Issue/Bug tracking system at the moment - basically it’ll (hopefully) be useful for anyone writing something that needs to be checked - so that could range from software to content.
This is probably the easiest way to show what’s going on
Issues List
This screen shows the main issues tab - I’m signed in with ‘Issue Management’ rights so this shows previously deleted (or rather hidden) issues and a few basic controls. It’s fairly easy to manage any submitted issues from here. This page can be filtered by User and Project.
Issue View
How you see a reported issue - the layout of this page is still majorly unfinished as I haven’t implemented some of the “metadata” features yet.
At the moment I’ve got a basic system working - it does the job - no more no less - but doesn’t include any ‘advanced’ features I have planned. These range from things like browser specs (if the issue requires it) to user-customisable categories - it’s mainly meta-data to help people solve issues. I also have quite an epic (and thus top secret) plan that would undoubtedly be a lot of work but put this product far above the others… more on that if it becomes a reality!
I also plan to rework the user interface quite a bit:- keeping the administration inline (jumping back and forth between panels is tedious) and keeping it as simple as possible are my priorities as I’d like to make the application useable for both people who run the software and people who use it (e.g. report bugs) and who may not be familiar with the system.
Anyway, I’ll update on this product as it progresses - Tuxxedo should be trial testing a Beta version within a month or two. Got any suggestions or ideas? Leave a comment on this post!
